Three Rivers Yoga Institute, Inc. , was established in 1993 by Robert Barton and Yamuna Devi and was the first studio of its kind in the Pittsburgh Area. Robert Barton has over 23 years experience practicing and sharing yoga and is the sole owner of Three Rivers Yoga Institute. Yamuna Devi lives in Taos, New Mexico donating her time and heart in service to the Neem Karoli Baba Ashram. The studio has developed a reputation for authenticity and teaching excellence. Three Rivers Yoga Institute has been training teachers since 1994 and many of these teachers have moved on to open their own studios across the Pittsburgh area and Eastern Ohio. We offer a variety of classes from an energetic, eclectic vinyasa flow to restorative, therapeutic, and gentle yoga 365 days a year. Teaching yoga is our lifestyle, our dharma!!! This practice is not about us although you can read our bios, it is all about you, your practice and your peace on the path.
From our hearts, our intention is to guide the student on a journey of accessing the teacher within. At Three Rivers Yoga , the student’s full potential is gradually unfolded through the exploration of the Eight Limbs of Yoga. Yoga is about finding peace and stillness within, then moving from that space through our lives, centered and balanced with harmony on all levels.
“When we realize that what we are advancing toward is not some physical form but an inward recognition of the truth of who we are, then we will not feel ourselves to be failing if we cannot attain difficult postures.”
~ Donna Farhi
As stated in the Patanjali Yoga Sutras, 1.2, " Yogas citta vrtti nirodhah,Yoga is the cessation of the fluctuations of the mind." This is the practice of yoga. When we practice in this manner without grasping, judging and striving, the deeper aspects of yoga unfold automatically within our being. Through this more complete exploration, the student begins to experience harmony within the mind, body and spirit.
We honor all traditions of yoga, “the paths are many, however, the truth is one”. |
